Jack is my neighbor and my best friend; we have known each other for ten years. When we were junior high school students, we always went out playing basketball together after school every day. On the weekend, we often went to the movies. We were very happy at that time. Although Jack lives in the United States now, we still keep in touch with each other.

[Eugene] 0408 Queuing culture in Taiwan

Eugene's Writing

作文: Milktea Fever in Taiwan: think about queuing culture in Taiwan.

厚奶茶的風潮曾經在2017年席捲台灣,人們瘋狂搶購奶茶;

Most Taiwanese people have the queuing culture for foods and drinks, like milktea, chocolate, and even toliet paper can become a crazy trend, but while some time passed. The trend disappears and many store that sell that thing have seldom costumers.

Most people in Taiwan have experiencing Taiwan’s queuing culture. In recent years,  foods and drinks like I-Mei milk tea and Japanese chocolate have been the best seller owing to people’s buying craze. However, as time passes,  the trend disappears and many stores that sell that fashionable products can hardly attract customers.

I think it is just a rule that every people  in the world follow, that causes “fashion", which only lasts for a few time. People can make their own blend that have own special parts to have more people to buy. Costomers should not always buy the newest trend because that might not be the best.

所以對台灣人有什麼影響? 沒有提到

(It is a form of  competition based on video games. Esport usually takes the form of multiplayer video games with unified rules. To win the competition requires superior gaming skills and team cooperation. Players who defeat other players can win the game and get the prize. )

Some common E-sport games are League of Legends, Hearthstone and Clash Royle, which many of my classmates have played now or before. There are many types of E-sports, and many teenagers love to watch it. Of course, I am not one of them.

[Eugene] “Seafood" cults in Taiwan

Eugene's Writing

What are the impacts of “Seafood" and their cults(流行/狂熱) on the society of Taiwan

Rulaizong(如來宗) was founded by Master Miaochan(妙禪師父) in 2004 in Taiwan.  Followers of Miaochan is understood to have about 80,000. The monthly donation and yearly membership given from the followers proceeds of NT$158 million, according to this article.

However, the religious craziness has sparked the public’s question on Miaochan.  The followers are told to hold an image of their master in their mind’s eye and say the phrase, “Thank you master, praise master (感恩師父,讚嘆師父),” during meditation.  Some netizens(網友) mock the behavior and call the master “Seafood", which sounds similar to the word in Chinese.
